Gage Carney wasn't just one thing. He was a stubborn, hardworking, blue-collar man with a soft heart beneath the rough edges. A 2022 graduate of Spanish Springs High School, Gage was a fixer — a man who worked with his hands, solved problems, helped people, and took pride in doing things the hard way when that was what it took to get the job done.
He could be rough around the edges, but he was also thoughtful, playful, and deeply caring toward the people who mattered to him. He was quick-witted, unapologetically sarcastic, and always ready with a perfectly timed comment — usually before anyone else had even figured out what to say. His humor could catch you off guard, make you shake your head, or leave an entire room laughing.
He wasn't perfect, and he wouldn't have wanted to be remembered as some polished version of himself. Gage deserved to be remembered exactly as he was: a working man who loved hard, helped where he could, made people laugh, and left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
Gage lived and worked in the Reno–Sparks, Nevada, community while managing Type 1 diabetes with the same stubborn determination he brought to everything else. He rarely allowed it to define him or interfere with the life he wanted to build. Still, he held onto the hope that he might someday travel to Germany to explore the medical advancements in Type 1 diabetes treatment he had heard about. Until then, Gage kept working, laughing, making plans, and living life on his own terms.

Why This Exists
HI, I'M KYLIE.
Gage was my boyfriend, my best friend, and an enormous part of my life for three years.
We built a life together in all the ordinary ways that don't seem important until suddenly they are. Adventures and plans. Inside jokes and arguments. Boring Tuesdays. Ridiculous moments. Pictures nobody else would understand. Thousands of little memories that made up our life together.
When Gage died, I realized how easily those little pieces of someone can disappear.
AND I DON'T WANT THE PIECES OF GAGE TO DISAPPEAR.

The Reason

Gage's friends have stories I don't know. His coworkers knew versions of him I never got to see. Somewhere there are photographs I've never seen, inside jokes I've never heard, and moments that meant something to someone who knew him.
That's why Celebrating Gage exists.

"Hey Gage, it’s been a rough few weeks, I’ve written this a few times now… so many memories, Aces games and camping- such a journey you and Kylie had over the past few years… the firsts that we got to experience as a family- Dawn Patrol, Dragon Lights, I had already planned on us going to Dragon Lights again this year and well since you were supposed to working you told Kylie to go ahead and do Dawn Patrol with me this year…it was just too soon, we couldn’t do it without you… you two were so young, you two were figuring out how to navigate an adult relationship with all of the imperfections and faults we all tend to bring to our intimate relationships… even when you guys had that brief break up two years ago, I told you then, no matter what you were a part of the family and always welcome. And as you started working out at USA Pkwy, I made sure you knew, you always had a warm meal and a place to crash if you couldn’t make the drive to Reno.
